Pastes exhibiting higher water-to-binder ratios demonstrated increased concentrations of non-evaporated water and calcium hydroxide, as well as a greater reaction extent for DWSA. Nanoscale examination shows that decreased w/b ratios correlate with a reduction in pore and unhydrated phase volume fraction in the matrix and an enhancement in the proportion of high-density C-S-H. The decrease in the water-to-binder ratio was accompanied by a reduction in the interfacial transition zone
