Within the Bacillus genus, the isolation of the 14-dihydroxy-2-naphthoic acid derivatives, bacillinaphthin (1) and rubinaphthin (2), is presented for the first time in this report. Amongst congeners, Bacillinaphthin (1) stands out as a new derivative of 2, with a succinic acid side chain appended to its sugar component.
