The Galapagos have been first recorded in 1535 when Spanish bishop Tomás de Berlanga stumbled upon them throughout a voyage. Pirates and whalers later visited the islands, utilizing them for supplies and repairs but leaving no permanent settlements. To minimize the impact of sightseeing on the unique ecosystem and mitigate points with introduced species, several organizations present conservation-based volunteering. The Galapagos National Park publishes an inventory of Vivencial Fishing licence-holders and their boats, but they don't hold the list up to date. Ico
