Simion was banned in 2024 from entering Ukraine for three years for what Kyiv known as “systematic anti-Ukrainian actions.” He denies he's against Ukraine or pro-Russian, arguing that he is simply pro-Romanian. He has additionally been repeatedly banned from Moldova, with Chișinău accusing him of endangering national security. Simion began his civic activism within the early 2000s, notably protesting in support of the Romanian Revolution and Moldovan students.
