Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a cause of substantial morbidity and mortality amongst autoimmune diseases, including myositis. Despite first-line therapy with immunosuppression, many inflammatory ILDs advance to a fibrotic stage. In such patients, progressive fibrosis may be amenable to treatment with antifibrotic medications, which were initially studied and approved for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
