To become proficient in reading, individuals may need to draw upon higher-order cognitive skills, like fluid reasoning (Gf), to overcome these difficulties. The present study investigated the impact of Gf on phonemic decoding and word recognition abilities in children in first through seventh grades (n=156) who were being evaluated for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The effects of Gf were scrutinized in the context of
