Forex Lot Size Made Simple
A lot is how much currency you trade—and it controls your risk.
Lot Types:
Standard = 100,000 units ($10/pip)
Mini = 10,000 ($1/pip)
Micro = 1,000 ($0.10/pip)
📉 Same trade, different risk:
50 pips loss =
Standard → -$500
Mini → -$50
Micro → -$5
🧮 Formula:
Lot Size = (Balance × Risk %) ÷ (Stop Loss × Pip Value)
👉 Example:
$1,000 account, 1% risk, 50 pips SL
= 0.02 lots
⚠️ Rule:
Lot size = your risk
Not your profit.
✅ Beginners: Start with 0.01 (micro lot)
