This work provides a nanostructure-engineered strategy of making ductile and tough cellulose nanopaper.The on-surface synthesis of edge-functionalized graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) is challenged by the stability of the functional groups throughout the thermal reaction steps of the synthetic pathway.
