Oocytes, after maturation, were co-incubated with thawed ram semen (IVF) for 19 hours. Embryo progression was monitored utilizing the Primo Vision Time-Lapse (TL) system. The Cryotop system, used for vitrification of ovine blastocysts at their early blastulation stage, resulted in subsequent re-expansion in 25 out of 31 specimens. Apoptosis (TUNEL assay) and total blastomere counts were assessed in both vitrified (n=25) and non-vitrified (control, n=28) blastocysts, specifically at the expanded blastocyst stage.
