Fast food truly grew off in Los Angeles, thanks to cars, a demand for convenience, and cheap ingredients. Thankfully, Angelenos are beginning to reject mega-chains like McDonald's and Jack in the Box in favor of better quick-service meals, especially during (and presumably after) the

Prime Pizza

Prime Pizza is busier than ever these days, thanks to favorable Instagram attention and the world's newfound love of sauce, cheese, and dough. The Burbank location has become a neighborhood favorite, and the Fairfax site still serves up speedy slices.

The Hat

The Hat, a Southern California institution with many locations throughout the region, is all about pastrami. This is the place to go for robust LA-area fare including sandwiches, loaded fries, and burgers topped with shaved pastrami.

Zankou Chicken

For nearly 50 years, this Southern California institution has served high-quality Mediterranean cuisine without the use of freezers or microwaves. There aren't many more dependable places that serve falafel sandwiches at such inexpensive pricing.

VOWburger

The new-ish VOWburger from Fairfax is a lesson in simplicity. The plant-based shop just north of the main strip serves some of the more consistent non-meat burgers in town, and don't forget to get one of their fried 'chicken' sandwiches as well.

Cassell's Hamburgers

Cassell's in Koreatown is a living history lesson. Hanging signage commemorates the long-gone old location nearby, but today's iteration within the Hotel Normandie is a gleaming reminder that times change. Thankfully, the well-griddled burgers, attentively managed by burger whisperer Christian Page, are as strong as ever.

Top Round Roast Beef

Where else in Los Angeles can you find curly fries, roast beef, and breakfast sandwiches all under one orange roof? Top Round, the tiny walk-up on the corner of La Brea and Olympic, is all about convenience and comfort.

Dino’s Famous Chicken

Things don't get much more efficient than at this Pico Blvd. takeaway grilled chicken joint, where styrofoam platters of burned, seasoned chicken atop thin-cut fries stack up faster than customers waiting outside can grab them.

Tozai Foods

Tozai is the place to go in Rosemead for all things Japanese culinary, from takeaway nibbles to fundamental household supplies. The market/restaurant has long been a cornerstone of the local dining scene, and it continues to serve some of the best Japanese food in town.

The Apple Pan

This Westwood burger business (now under new management) has successfully transitioned to takeout throughout the pandemic and now accepts credit cards. Although the hickory and beef burgers are Midwestern staples, Angelenos have adopted the burgers and pies here as their own.

Los Cinco Puntos

Los Cinco Puntos, an East LA carnitas staple, has been serving tacos and pork by the pound for decades. Because there is no indoor seating, you'll have to perch on the ledge outside, or buy a bag of to-go tortillas and consume them at home.

Loqui

Loqui's flour tortillas precede the current trend in the city. The restaurant began as a Tartine pop-up in San Francisco and has evolved into not only this Culver City staple, but a group of restaurants that now runs from the Arts District to Playa Vista.

Earle's

Earlez Grill, which had been in business for 25 years, reopened in early 2017 as Earle's Grill. The Crenshaw location promotes customizable all-beef dogs, but also offers hot links and turkey dogs. Beyond Meat has recently been offered as a vegan alternative, plus there are always the Jamaican patties.

HiHo Cheeseburger

HiHo Cheeseburger is a bonafide sensation, with locations all across Los Angeles serving double-pattied wagyu burgers for the public. Don't overlook the fried chicken sandwich.

Tito's Tacos Mexican Restaurant

This Westside taco joint serves delicious crunchy tacos and filling bean burritos. Sure, there can be a long wait during peak hours (even now), but generally, it's a cheap lunch on the go with a big dose of nostalgia.

Bj's menu

BJ's menu Restaurant and Brewhouse, or just BJ's, is a prominent casual dining restaurant brand in the United States. They are well-known for its varied menu, which includes everything from appetizers and pizzas to burgers, pasta, and desserts. Here are some examples of menu items you might find at BJ's:
