Paragangliomas are tumors arising from paraganglia of the autonomic nervous system. They are rare tumors and occurrence inside the gallbladder is exceptionally rare. Biliary paragangliomas are thought to be associated with the parasymphathetic fibers and are therefore non-functioning and benign.
