Immunohistochemical studies demonstrated that tankyrase was localized to neuronal cytoplasmic inclusions in the spinal cords of patients with ALS. Moreover, the tankyrase protein levels were significantly higher in the brains of patients with FTLD than in the brains of control subjects.
